One of the most customizable is our Finger Lakes Ballroom Package, whose eponymous venue is the most modern, yet still beautiful, “blank canvas” space in our hotel. This area can be anything you want it to be – perfect when you are planning a wedding on a budget.

Once you have set your budget and chosen your venue, we know it can sometimes be difficult to find ways to keep your wedding dreams and cut corners at the same time, but it’s not as difficult as it might seem. Here’s a few great tips from our wedding planners on how to keep costs down while holding on to your dream day plans!
Wedding Dress – Rent your dress for the day. You can still be couture with luxury attire rental services that will loan you the wedding dress of your dreams for just a fraction of the price.
Cake – Consider a “display cake” with a larger (less expensive, but still decorated) sheet cake available as your dessert course.
Ceremony – Hold your ceremony and reception in the same place! Have it on an “off” day (like a wonderful Wednesday), “off” season (such as being a dashing December bride) or even an “off” timeslot (mornings will look magnificent in your photos).
Flowers – Not only are they the perfect natural décor, but when seasonal and local these blooms will be available at peak supply and a much lower cost.
Food – Skip the cocktail hour hors d’oeuvres if you plan on a full menu for dinner, or, change it up completely and have an evening reception with specialty cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Another thought is to consider having a brunch as your reception.
Music/Photos/Etc. – These supplemental details, while important, can easily be accommodated to fit your budget. Consult with the guest of honor
Sometimes, surprises don’t always go over very well. Certain details (should the shower be pre or post baby, number of guests, inviting the father or other male friends) should probably be discussed with the mom-to-be first – just to be sure.
Plan a party that she would like
Sounds simple, but don’t lose focus on who it’s actually for – try to make it something she will absolutely love and remember forever. e.g If she’s not a fan of country music, best to leave them off the playlist, and if she’s more comfortable with smaller groups then think about having a lovely afternoon tea or a small brunch celebration with her closest friends and family.
Serve a well-rounded menu that everyone can enjoy.
Keep it easy to eat (finger or fork food is best) but not simple in design – tiny bites of something delicious are always a hit! Mocktails over cocktails are a sure-fire way to keep every guest included (and will help with the budget as well).
