We are getting ready for these St. Patrick’s Day Events in Syracuse and the public’s first glimpse of the Marriott Syracuse Downtown at an exclusive ticket-holder event!
After a long winter, Syracuse is always ready for a party! St. Patrick’s Day is one of the biggest events in the area and this year at the Marriott Syracuse, we are so excited to be part of the excitement. Ready to see some of what we have in store?
The Grand Marshal Celebration inside the Marriott Syracuse Downtown takes place on March 11th.
This event is exclusively for ticket holders and can be found at the Parade Website.
The Syracuse St. Patrick’s Parade began in 1982 and is now considered to be one of the Top Ten Parades in the United States. Events leading up to the parade include charitable fundraising for the St. Patrick’s Hunger Project. Irish Night with the Syracuse Crunch takes place on February 26 and Irish Night with the Silver Knights will be February 28. On Saturday, March 5, the 11th Annual Shamrock Run is a 4 mile road race and fun run with another opportunity to contribute to the Hunger Project through non-perishable donations as well as monetary donations. Kitty Hoyne’s Irish Pub & Restaurant hosts their own charitable fundraiser on March 6 with fun entertainment and prizes.
Friday, March 11 will be extra special this year! Parade organizers will paint the green stripe indicating the parade route at 9:30 a.m. Later in the day, the Grand Marshal Celebration is scheduled to take place right here at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown, formerly Hotel Syracuse, at 6 p.m. There will be cocktails, food stations and entertainment.
The Parade itself will take place on March 12 at noon from Clinton Square and follows the route south along Salina Street. Former New York State Fair director Joseph E. O’ Hara will lead the parade as the 2016 Grand Marshal. New York State Court of Claims Judge Nicholas V. Midey Jr. has been named Gael of the Year.
The Hotel Syracuse was a major part of the St. Patrick’s Day event in Syracuse some time ago and it is so exciting that it will return again as the place to honor the Grand Marshal. This will be the FIRST event in the hotel after our restoration. While open to the public, guests must reserve tickets from the event website.
